I’m Alex. I’m 24, and I got my bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing with a Political Science minor from Western Washington University in Bellingham.

I live in the coastal city of Busan in the Republic of Korea where I teach English to Korean middle schoolers who are better at English than I am at Korean. They know it, too.

And, like every other millennial, I’ve got a blog.

Here are my (modest) fame claims:

Poetry

  • “sestina for a saturday” — poem published in Jeopardy Magazine, Vol. 51, May 2015
  • “Elegy for Philip, No. 1” — visual poem published in Jeopardy Magazine, Vol. 52, May 2016
  • “Elegy for Philip, No. 3” — visual poem published in Jeopardy Magazine, Vol. 52, May 2016

Conferences

  • “Mujeres Libres: Lessons on Anarchism and Feminism from Spain’s Free Women” — paper presented on the comparative politics panel at the 23rd Annual Political Science Association Student Conference, May 3, 2016
  • “Mujeres Libres: Lessons on Anarchsim and Feminism from Spain’s Free Women” — paper presented on the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies panel at Scholars Week, Western Washington University, May 18, 2016

Publications

  • Associate Editor of Occam’s Razor Magazine, Vol. 6, Western Washington University, 2015-2016

Awards

  • 2016 Hoover Prize for most outstanding presentation at the WWU Political Science Association Conference

Other

  • Spryngenol — an online, interactive poetics and anarchist manifesto. As much a self-reflection as an homage to William Carlos Williams and dialogue with Robert Creeley. View it here: spryngenol.tumblr.com
  • Serials — a self-made chapbook of poems made from tweets, Craigslist personals, and texts. You can read some of it here.
Hair
It me! (gots a mouth + nose, too)

P.S. I have another blog, right over here. You might like it if you like Kurt Vonnegut, or maybe just if you like me.

Actually, I have yet ANOTHER blog! It’s just a wee babby, meant to chronicle my life as an expat in Korea. Maybe one day I’ll update it past the first post!
