I’ve become really interested in visual poetry. I am a collage artist so I’ve been wanting to experiment merging the two mediums. Also, I’ve been playing around with the cut-up method and then gluing the new phrases to paper. What also interests me is pairing a poem with an image, although I’m still torn as to whether it would detract from the poem or enhance it. 🙂
When I find that my visuals detract from a poem, it’s usually a sign that there isn’t the right kind of tension or relationship between them. Good visual poetry is equal parts word and image! I think you should definitely keep experimenting though 🙂 The cut-up method was one of my first entry points into this art form!
